Things To Do In Jacksonville and St. Johns County!

Jacksonville is a very family friendly place, with plenty to do. The beach and the river continue to attract the majority of people. Beachgoers enjoy all the beach festivals put on here, and boaters love spending time on the gorgeous St. Johns River.

Northeast Florida offers many recreational events and cultural opportunities. Both players and spectators can enjoy almost any sport year-round here. Jax is home to the PGA Tour, the World Golf Village, the PGA Hall of Fame as well as the world famous TPC golf course which hosts the PGA tour each March. The ATP (Assoc. of Tennis Prof.) has also made Northeast Florida their home.

The NFL's presence has resulted in the building of a new downtown waterfront sports and entertainment complex as well as new hotels, restaurants and retail shops. The Jacksonville Jaguars have had a huge impact on our city, and we have become much more culturally diverse as a result.

Some popular annual events include the Jacksonville Jazz festival, the Kingfish tournament and festival, The River Run, the Jax Offshore Grand Prix races, as well as biannual air shows by the Blue Angels. Jacksonville and the surrounding beach communities are home to many indoor and outdoor concerts, festivals, art shows, etc. Classical music enthusiasts enjoy the Jax Symphony Orchestra, recognized as one of the nations finest orchestras.

Families enjoy the Jax Zoo, The Museum of Science & History, the Brest Planetarium, several different art galleries and museums, nature preserves and waterfront parks, on top of 50 miles of sandy beaches. The new World Golf Village has family nights throughout the summer with a host of fun activities for the entire family.

Then there's always the Jacksonville Landing, a group of bars, restaurants and shops overlooking the river in the heart of downtown, with a concert stage in the middle. You'll never run out of things to do here!

Financing Your Home >Credit Card Mania

Most people know that a checkered credit history can disqualify you for a home loan, and maxed-out credit cards can do the same thing. But what most people don't know is that merely having a large number of credit cards, even with low balances and a history of timely payments, can disqualify you for a home mortgage loan just as quickly.

According to credit experts, having a number of credit cards can be just as detrimental to the granting of further credit as a history of late payments. Lenders look at it this way: If you have ten credit cards, each with a limit of $5,000, that means you have the potential to run up $50,000 in debt virtually any time you choose. That mere possibility makes you a greater risk, from their point of view.

The moral of the story? If you are planning to apply for a home loan in the future, keep only those credit cards you actually need to use and cancel the others.
